I finally got my pictures posted on Piscasa Web Albums.  Click on the Media tab and you'll see them.

My Chinese name is

马培德

Ma PeiDe

It was suggested to me by my friend and fellow graduate student, Dai Wu Yan.  Here is her explanation of it's meaning.

Ma is a common surname which means "horse" that sounds like the beginning of Martin.

Pei means to cultivate or foster.

De means virtues, merits, or good characteristics.

She tells me that this is a good name for a teacher and this teacher is flattered and pleased by the implications.

Click on the various tabs above to read about my adventures and thoughts as I travel and encounter China for the first time.  I will definitely post pictures and possibly videos as well.  I will try to share the sights, sounds smells and tastes of it all.

Please leave comments in my guest book (below) or e-mail me directly at petermapeide@yahoo.com .
